In the headlines recently was the announcement by global motorcycling website Visordown.com that it had awarded the new Harley-Davidson Street 750 the accolade of Best Cruiser of 2015. The Visordown Awards for Best Bikes Of 2015 were judged by Visordown Editor Steve Farrell and Roland Brown, motorcycle correspondent for the Daily Telegraph and probably the best known independent bike tester in the UK. Between them they have over 45 years' experience in motorcycle journalism.
From a list of ten bikes from seven different manufacturers, the two-man judging panel agreed that the Street 750, was a “brilliant” machine and worthy of the title ‘Best Cruiser’. Considering the scope of competition within this category – there were two other Harley-Davidson motorcycles in the category, both Sportster models: Forty-Eight and Iron 883 – the fact the latest edition to the Harley-Davidson range won such a prestigious award says a great deal about this new motorcycle. This was, of course, underlined by the accompanying Visordown comment on why the Street 750 had won.
Visordown: “Launched in August, the Street 750 just about sneaked into this year’s awards. It may not feel that Harley-ish but that’s why it’s brilliant: it makes Harley ownership accessible to non-Harley devotees. It’s well-mannered, user-friendly and fun, and its £6,000 price tag means a lot more will be able to fulfil a dream of Harley ownership. When a brand so recognised becomes so affordable, it even stands to draw more new riders into motorcycling.”
